Each Appetizer Board that I create is based on the season and locally available ingredients.

Here is a suggestion for a beautiful plant based / vegan spread:

  • Rainbow Veggie Crudité: Arrange a colorful assortment of raw vegetables such as carrots, cherry tomatoes, bell peppers (red, yellow, orange, green), zucchini, cucumber slices, snap peas, celery sticks with tops, or radishes. These fresh vegetables not only add vibrant colors but also provide a refreshing crunch. Use locally available organic seasonal vegetables because it not only enhances the freshness and flavor of your plant based charcuterie board but also supports local farmers and reduces environmental impact.
  • Fresh Seasonal Fruit: Add some sweetness to your upscale plant based board with fresh fruit like grapes, pomegranate seeds, peaches, tangerine, apples (red, green, yellow), pineapple chunks, raspberries, blueberries, strawberries, blackberries, gooseberries, pears (red, green, yellow), or slices of kiwi. Choose a variety of colors to enhance the visual appeal.
  • Hummus Duo or Trio: Serve two or three different flavors of hummus such as classic chickpea, roasted red pepper, beets or spinach. Arrange them in small bowls and drizzle with olive oil and sprinkle with sumac, paprika or fresh herbs.
  • Fresh Herb Bouquet Garnish: Pick up a bunch of fresh herbs from the farmer’s market to use as a garnish for your board. Fresh basil, parsley, dill, or cilantro not only add a pop of color but also enhance the overall freshness and aroma of the spread. Edible flowers can also be used for an extra touch of elegance.
  • Assorted Nuts and Seeds: Provide a mix of roasted nuts and seeds such as almonds, walnuts, pumpkin seeds, cashew, Brazilian nuts, and sunflower seeds. You can also offer candied nuts for a touch of sweetness or spice.
  • Artisan Crackers and Breadsticks: Include a selection of artisan crackers and breadsticks for dipping into hummus or pairing with vegetables. Chose a variety of gluten free pitas and crackers at your local grocery store.
  • Dips and Spreads: Offer a couple of dips and spreads such as roasted red pepper dip, olive tapenade, or artichoke dip to complement the other components of the board.

Arrange everything on a large wooden board or platter. Enjoy creating and indulging in this colorful and vibrant plant-based charcuterie board!

Remember, by using locally available organic seasonal vegetables, fruits, seeds, nuts, vegan or regular cheeses, and other ingredients, you’ll create a plant based charcuterie board that not only tastes amazing but also celebrates the best of what your local region has to offer.
